After all, things change, so do cities. People come into your life and they go. But it's comforting to know that the ones you love are always in your heart...and if you're very lucky, a plane ride away.

San Diego Love

Tuesday night: I sat out on the balcony, lit some candles and watched the sunset over our apartment complex (of course a nice glass of wine was involved). It was beautiful and so relaxing!

Tuesdays

I love having Tuesdays off! Every Tuesday that I am not working I drive up to Rancho Bernardo and have lunch with Drew. It is so nice since we don't really get to see each other/go out much. Why Tuesdays you ask??? BECAUSE Batter Up Cupcakes has $2 Tuesdays. :) Love it!

Jenny the Daredevil

Tonight at work I did the unthinkable...I tried the "Sweet and Sour Tongue" that I have been passing up for dinner for the last 4 months.

This looks disgusting. I like trying new things and It wasn't bad but I will NOT be eating it again.

FRIDAY

Since the great weather continued today, I journeyed over to the beach. It was nice and relaxing. I've decided that I should start running along the shore. It would be a lot less boring than the treadmill!

THURSDAY

Spent the day at the pool! It has been beautiful out the last few days.

I learned that our apartment complex is connected to various English immersion schools...that explains why every person I encounter is speaking a different language. They said that over 50 countries are represented in Bay Pointe apartments. They weren't joking when they said San Diego is a "melting pot".

Here are some pictures from the day...

Expelliarmus!

#1 on my list of places I want to go:

"The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" at Universal Studios Orlando.

Ahhhh ahhhhh ahh ahh ahhhhhh (angel music)

Someday :)

Jenny V. Food

I have become a huge fan of Man V. Food on the Travel channel. We watch it all the time at work and although sometimes the amount of food he eats is disgusting, a lot of the restaurants look fantastic!

Adam Richman did an episode in San Diego and he featured:

The Broken Yolk Cafe

Phil's BBQ

Both are really close to where we live so I am sure we'll meander over to try them sooner or later.

SCHOOL

I turned in my last nursing application (for a while) today! Now, it is a waiting game. I will wait to hear from 4 community colleges and I will be hearing back anytime between February and May.

SO that means that everyone needs to start saying extra prayers that I will get in!!!!!!!!!

Weather

I know I cannot complain about the weather since everyone in the Midwest are wearing their snuggies on top of long underwear right about now but the rain here is getting crazy! It has been raining and raining and RAINING. I thought rain was supposed to be a scarcity out here?? I am fairly sure Drew and I brought some of the Midwest weather with us.

The worst part of it all are the potholes! They are horrible and there is no way to avoid them because they are everywhere!!!!

SO at least we can empathize with you all for the time being! :)

Road Trip

Today, Drew and I had quite the busy day! My dear friend, Natalie, was in town for the Rose Bowl and we were able to meet up with her in LA! Drew and I explored a little bit in the downtown LA area but quickly discovered that other than the Staples Center, downtown LA sucks. It is really sketchy and is inhabited by primarily homeless people. Welp- been there, seen that.

The three of us had a fantastic dinner at a Japanese restaurant called Wokcano. Drew and I both got some Spicy Orange Chicken and it was easily the best we have ever had! Yippee for leftovers tomorrow :)

It was wonderful to see Natalie and we had a great time catching up as I had not seen her since July!!!! I am hoping she will come back soon to visit us in San Diego!

On the drive home Drew and I talked about some other adventures we'd like to conquer while in CA:

1. Drive up the 101 Pacific Highway and stop at all the beaches.
2. Go to Hollywood, take a picture of the sign and walk down Rodeo Drive.
3. See a Lakers game at the Staples Center.
4. Go to Stones Brewery in San Marcos.
5. Go to the outlet mall in Carlsbad.
6. Go to the outlet mall in Ontario (on our next visit to see Kristi in Palm Springs...whenever that may be).
7. Spend a weekend in San Fran (and see Missa)
8. Two words: WINE COUNTRY....preferably, a week  long visit :) although, Kim already made me promise not to go until she comes to visit.
9. Cruise to Cabo San Lucas.
10. Catalina Island.
11. Go to a talk show....Ellen, Jay Leno, doesn't matter.
12. Drive through Laguna Beach and the OC..... Just because we can :)

I better start saving my nickels!
