Drew and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary today. We went out last night to a place called the Firehouse that Drew really enjoyed going to with his family when they visited (sorry no magic tricks this time Brad and Dawn). We had a really good time and he even bought me some sort of Chocolate+Fudge+Strawberries+ Heaven+Vanilla Ice Cream. It was amazing and tasted even better once the waiter said it was FREE because he took so long to serve it.
It was a beautiful night and we were a half block away from the ocean so we were able to sit and watch the waves roll in. It was perfect because once the sun went down, a fire pit in the center ignited and warmed us up.
I can't believe we have been together 3 years already! In some ways it seems longer but then I think about it and it feels like just yesterday that we went on our first date.
I thought of the Kenny Chesney song "Don't Blink" because I feel like my life is cruising in fast forward sometimes!
After all, things change, so do cities. People come into your life and they go. But it's comforting to know that the ones you love are always in your heart...and if you're very lucky, a plane ride away.

Winter Blues
Even though I know Drew and I will move back to the Midwest after I'm done with school, it is SO hard to think about enduring a 6+ month winter after experiencing "winter" out here. Why do we put ourselves through such torture? I've been reminiscing about the anticipation and excitement I would feel when I knew spring/summer was approaching after a long brutal winter. California Summers are great but there is such a different feel to a summer in the Midwest. I think it is because after going through winter we have really earned a beautiful summer and enjoy it that much more/don't take it for granted. I can't help but notice how much happier I am out here being in constant contact with the sun. I cringe at the thought that last winter in Eau Claire I would curl up in a ball under 5 blankets while wearing a onesie and snuggie at the same time while pretending I was in a warm and happy place.
I now understand why people are willing to pay big bucks to live here for the California weather.
I can only hope all of the snow will be melted and it will be somewhat warm by the time we come home. I have already lost my "thick skin". Fingers crossed.

JRO= Cupcake Monster
I feel like I haven't posted in forever!
Things have been pretty low key here.
Today, however, Drew and I were both off and decided to go out and about.
We have been wanting to get a basketball for a long time so that we can hoop it up. We picked one up at Sports Authority and then headed across the street to Applebees for some happy hour apps/drinks.
THEN, Drew had the brilliant idea of driving to La Jolla to check out the new SPRINKLES cupcakery. Sprinkles is a very famous chain that originated in Beverly Hills so it is pretty cool that there is one in San Diego now!
They are amazinnggggggggg. The are so squishy and fresh it is fantastic.
We tried Red Velvet (best ever), Peanut Butter Chip, and Lemon (for Drew). So pretty much by "WE" I mean that I tried them all :)
After experiencing quite the sugar high we went out and played basketball for about an hour! We had a really good time.
Other than that fun stuff, we are just counting down the days until we travel home to see all of you people!

Sunday Fun Day
Drew and I had a lot of fun today. We went out to celebrate my acceptance into nursing school at the CHEESECAKE FACTORY. It was amazing and we brought home a ton of leftovers. Yummmm.
As a reward for completing 6 days of p90x so far, I indulged myself with a nice slice of heaven a.k.a. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake.
When we got home we meandered over to the hot tub and had a nice relaxation session.
Unfortunately, It started raining and we were forced back inside.
For some unknown reason, I became super motivated and cleaned out our whole closet and re-organized/folded/hung all of the massive heaps of clothing (of course Drew had already fallen asleep/slipped in a food coma at this point in time).
That is all the fun for now. Back to work tomorrow :(
